From award-winning author Nina Foxx comes a mysterious, yet warm tale of figuring things out and finding a way forward, about women taking control of thier destiny, and how unveiling the harsh truth of life can be freeing....
Hi, I'm Nina Foxx
A Novelist, Playwright & Yogi based mostly in the Seattle Area....
I'm a storyteller, and my stories manifest themselves in novels, plays, films and fiber. I make things and always have projects going in all of these areas, and sometimes more than one of them intersect. I travel to feed my stories. I teach yoga for conferences, events and online a few times a week. Shivasana is my favorite pose, because, well, who doesn't like to lay down?!
In addition to authoring over 20 narrative publications, I've written three plays, a few films, and have authored sereval Industrial Design Patents. I work a day job in tech--because I love it. I am a frequent speaker at conferences about being A Blerd (Black Girl Nerd), Black in Technology, Women's Health and other topics.
My work has been nominated for several awards, including an NAACP Image Award, A Doctorow Award for Innovative Fiction, and several African American Literary Awards.
I am the founder of The Writing Sisters Summit, a writing and wellness retreat for Women of Color, and am currently an Artist-In-Residence at Brown Soul Productions.
I am originally from Jamaica, New York, but now live in the Seattle Area for most of the year.

His boat came in, but Denise Martine’s husband, Charles, wasn’t on it. Almost a year later, with his death still a mystery, Denise retreats to their vacation home on Kiawah Island to begin to sort out his affairs and her feelings amongst a group of her friends, only to be confronted with the mystery he left behind. Although she must go on, Denise feels as if something is not quite right with her husband's mysterious disappearance. Her suspicions are compounded as an old flame from college, Trent, shows up and begins to poke around in what Denise considers to be a very private matter.
It’s the beginning of the Pandemic and an affluent Black family in Bellevue, WA shelters in place with the rest of us. When the murder of George Floyd lights the fire of activism in their teenage daughter, parents Claire and Dante wrestle with what it means to keep their child “safe” when safety, once taken for granted, becomes an illusion and is quickly fleeting on multiple fronts.
